One of the most frustrating things in the relationship between Lori* and her mom was the miscommunication and lack of communication because of their different personality styles. She needed financial and emotional support from both her parents to launch into independency. They found themselves walking on eggshells and in unpleasant arguments when they were around one another. Coaching allowed them to acknowledge their different behavioral styles and to express their needs. Instead of focusing on taking things personal, the focus was put towards creating a plan and by-when dates for Lori to move out and become independent.
